FAQ

Why should I choose Fawkes Electrical?
Is it a Legal Requirement to have an EICR carried out on my property?
  • No hidden costs - clear and simple quotes for all jobs.

  • 10 year labour guarantee on all work.

  • Tidy, reliable and polite.

  • Fully insured (£5 million), and registered with NAPIT.

  • Experts in domestic Electrical work.

  • Local to Ratby, we cover the wider Leicester area.

This depends on the property. If it is a privately rented address then it will need an Electrical Installation Condition Report carrying out at least every 5 years (or sooner if required by the Electrician inspecting the property).

If it is a property you own and occupy then you don't legally NEED an EICR carrying out. However, it is strongly recommended that they are carried out ever 5 years to ensure the property is electrically safe. Your home insurance may require it.

Should I receive a certificate when I get any electrical work done?

Any work which involves altering the characteristics of a circuit needs a Minor Works Certificate as a minimum.

Any New circuit or replacement consumer unit needs an Electrical Installation Certificate completing.

Also, any new circuit, new consumer unit or work carried out in a special location (e.g. Bathrooms) needs notifying to the Local Building Authority as well as the relevant certificate completing.

Always make sure any Electrician you use provides this service.
